CME Licensure Requirements

Ohio has licensed osteopathic physicians since 1944. As the practice of osteopathic medicine has changed over the years, the Medical Board has continued to change and meet its' mission of regulating the practice of osteopathic medicine in the state. In order to practice osteopathic medicine in Ohio, the individual must be licensed and maintain a current license by the Board. Continuing Medical Education (CME) Requirements

During a registration period, a licensee shall complete 50 hours of CME designated by the AOA as Category 1 in a two-year cycle. A licensee must complete a minimum of one hour of CME, approved by the board, on the topic of a licensee's duty to report misconduct under section 4731.224 of the Revised Code.

Please Note:  This form should only be completed by osteopathic physicians who are requesting the reclassification and approval of CME activities from Category 2 to Category 1-C.

 

Duty To Report

As a licensee of the State Medical Board of Ohio, you have a statutory and ethical duty to report misconduct. You are obligated to report violations of law, rule and code of ethics standards to the Medical Board. 

The State Medical Board provides the Duty to Report video on misconduct, which can be found on their website. This requirement went into effect May 31, 2021.
