Advocacy Day at the Statehouse
On Wednesday, June 4, more than 30 psychiatrists gathered together in Columbus at the statehouse to advocate on behalf of their patients and their profession. Priorities discussed with lawmakers including funding for additional positions in residency training programs, legislation to increase the number of psychiatrists on insurance panels ensuring network advocacy, and legislation on prior authorization "gold card" intended to reduce the wait time for patients to obtain medical services.

Study finds 1 In 4 U.S. children has a parent with substance use disorder
A study published in JAMA2OA Pediatrics finds that nearly 19 million children in the U.S. have at least one parent with a substance use disorder (SUD), which amounts to 1 in 4 children with a parent who has an addiction. The study’s main finding is significantly higher than previous estimates (7 million in a study originally published in 2022).
