Position Summary:

The Office of Rural and Underserved Programs (ORUP) at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (HCOM) oversees the Rural and Urban Scholars Pathways program (RUSP) for students interested in primary care in rural and urban underserved communities. The Associate Director in Cleveland will assist in the continuing design and implementation of the RUSP program, specifically at HCOM’s Cleveland campus, including but not limited to curriculum design, workshop design and implementation, recruitment, education, faculty development, and participation in research endeavors. The associate director for the Cleveland campus will be the primary contact for the RUSP students on that campus, serving as their coach and advisor on scholarly activity, and will serve as the institutional anchor for any other programs targeting the preparation of all HCOM students for practice in rural and underserved communities. The associate director will build partnerships with community organizations in order to offer community-engaged professional development opportunities for HCOM students over the course of the year. Additionally, the associate director will facilitate monthly sessions of Clinical Jazz and contribute to the teaching of all students on the Cleveland Campus with respect to the care of rural and underserved urban populations.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Design and implement 2-4 interactive RUSP workshops for the Cleveland campus of OUHCOM that engage students in issues relevant to urban underserved health and health care.

-Serve as a coach to RUSP students on the Cleveland campus

-Participate in monthly sessions of Clinical Jazz, as a facilitator in training

-Contribute to the teaching of all Cleveland students with respect to the care of underserved urban populations

-Participate by video-conference in quarterly programmatic RUSP and semi-annual ORUP planning meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

-Doctoral degree, DO or MD

-3 years of work related experience
